Abstract: Based on the spatial characteristics and correlations of the impact factors in the synthetic evaluation of farmland quality and supported by computer technology, a framework model or the synthetic evaluation system or farmland quality is put forward for data input, storage, retrieval and operation of the natural conditions and social environment of the farmland in the evaluation regions, which is based on the types and functions of GIS spatial analysis and combined with fuzzy synthetic evaluation models. Furthermore, a case study is carried out in Mashan District, Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, and some experiments are undertaken on the functions of quantification of the evaluation factors, spatial analysis, grade division, area measurement and calculation, evaluation chart output, etc, which can provide the basis for developing land evaluation information system.

Key words: farmland quality, synthetic evaluation, framework model, GIS
