Abstract: Xinjiang is richly endowed by the natural conditions of formation and distribution of the plant resources, which is charaterized by the rich resources, first-class quality, is richer in the mountainous areas and in north Xin-jiang than that in the plains and in south Xinjiang. A series of eco-environmental problems have been broughtabout by the severe gathering and digging of fuel and medicinal herbs. At present and in near -future, the basicorientation and tasks of protection, exploitation and utilization of the plant resoures in Xinjiang are to harmonizethe protection and rational exploitation and utilization, devote major efforts to constructing the production basesof raw plant materials, strengthen the scientific research and the legal administration, achieve the increment andthe sustainable utilization of the resources, and change the advantage of resources into the advantage of com-rmodities.
