Abstract: Regional economic dfference is one of the core content of regional economics. From the two aspects of economic developmental difference and residential income dfference, this paper adopts the method of econometricsto analyze and evaluate the regional economic dfference in Xinjiang and draws the following basic conclusions: (1) Economic differences among prefectures or inner prefecture are very noticeable in Xinjiang. (2) All prefectures in Xinjiang are divided into four economic types, i-. e. the stable developed prefecture, the stable develop-ing prefecture, the stable backward prefecture and the stagnant -backward prefecture. (3) Monetory wages dif-ference among prefectures is smaller than economic developmental difference and per capita income difference ofrural households. (4) Per capita consumption level dfference among prefectures, all residents or urban or rural, is bigger than difference of staff and workers money wages and per capita income difference of rural households. (5) Per capita income difference of rural households of sample survey prelectures is fairly big, but difference ofthe real living level of rural households, which Engel 's coefficient shows, is not serious.
