Abstract: Agriculture-stockbreeding interlaced area is important grain and stockbreeding base, important region for ecologic construction and economic development of rural area. It becomes an idealistic researching area for global change and sustainable development because of its weak natural environment and strained man-land relation. For a long time, agriculture and animal husbandry have been the mainstay industries of the region, which have made great contributions to regional economic development and improvement of living standard of local people. However, the ecologic environment in the area has already shown a tendency of deteriorating resulting from the extensive development. On the long run, the benefit from the traditional development mode cannot compensate the expense in the developing process, so it is time to change the method of economical increment and to lead a way of urbanization. The fragile eco-environment of the area is background of urban ecological problems, such as water resources shortage, pollution expansion, backward infrastructure, irrationally concentrated industry structure and so on, which have already become the "bottle-neck" of urban sustainable development, and which are also important causes of the concentrating of poverty counties. With the implementing of the strategies of the Great Development of Western China and sustainable development, the cities, as the regional poles, are urgently required to develop in a sustainable way. This paper discusses the background, connotation and theory frame of urban sustainable development in the agriculture-stockbreeding interlaced area, and then analyze the key urban environment problems and its particularity in sustainable development. At last, based on the analysis the status quo of this region, the paper brings forth the thoughts and countermeasures on realizing the urban sustainable development in the areas.
