Bibliometrics evaluation of the halophytes scientific papers based on Web of Science

Abstract: Scientific papers on the halophytes,indexing by the Science Citation Index (SCI) within 1900-2011,were analyzed according to 9 aspects such as the annual document quantity change,research institution,country/region origin,periodical distribution,author,founding agency,document type and subject categories,the analysis of highly cited frequency research paper due to investigate the distribution pattern and current status of scientific papers on the halophytes. Our results indicated that the national ranking according to number of papers cited by SCI was following: United States (19.46%),China (11.51%) and India (7.69%). The top three research institutions ranking according the number of papers cited by SCI were Chinese Academy of Sciences,Spanish Senior Scientific Research Council and Pakistan Faisalabad Agricultural University. China also has scientific cooperation with more than 20 countries,such as United States,Japan,Germany,Australia,Pakistan,Israel and India. China needs to do more work to develop closer cooperative research with Central Asia countries such as Kyrgyzstan and Mongolia.
