Abstract: Along with the rapid development of urbanization, new soil erosion caused by human activities occurs more frequently and has been paid a great attention A new concept of suburban soil erosion belts is put forward in the paper, and their ring-shaped distribution, width, vertical structure features, spatial structure, material compostion, etc.are discussed. It is pointed out that the suburban soil erosion belts are characterized by fragile structure, multiple material sources, movable and intensified erosion, etc. The three leading factors of the formation mechanism of soil erosion are emphasized,i.e.,the surface pattern and material struclure are the formation bases of serious soil erosion, energy accumulation and multiple erosion ways intensify soil erosion, and artificial factors aggravate soil erosion. An ecological-economic harnessing pattern is suggested for the suburban soil erosion betls.Because of the complexity and the obvious variability of the urban-rural interlocated zones, the soil erosion can not be analyzed and controlled in a simple way,and the natural, social and economic factors should be synthetically analyzed with ecological-economic theory and methods. It is suggested to build up an ecologiczal-economic system in a pattern of water and soil conservation, which is compounded by natural system and artificial system.

Key words: Urban-rural interlocated zone, Soil erosion belt, structure, feature, harnessing pattern
