Abstract: The research results of urban agglomerations play a leading role in the formation of the overall patterns of China's urban agglomeration and make a great contribution to the development of new urbanization in China. This study tracks the researches on the urbanization development of Kashgar metropolitan in Xinjiang of China,a city located at a junction point on the Silk Road Belt. Based on the data available from CSCD,EI and Web of Science, we went through the researches about the reciprocal coercing effects of urbanization and eco-environment in Kashgar metropolitan using the CiteSpace bibliometric method by analyzing the keywords, research hotspots, research institutes and groups. We found that there were few researches on the development of Kashgar metropolitan, which mostly focus on the relationships between the urbanization and eco-environment. Previous researches revealed the coercing effects of urbanization of urban agglomerations on single elements such as water and land from the perspectives of the gathering of the population, the development of economy and the urban space expansion and explored the restrictions of urban eco-environment on the urbanization due to the limited capacities of water, land and atmosphere.Future researches should pay more attention on the reciprocal coercing effects of urbanization with the resources and environment in the formation and development process of Kashgar metropolitan.

Key words: urbanization, eco-environment, reciprocal coercing effects, Kashgar metropolitan
