Abstract: lt is important to monitor oasis dynamically. In this paper, taking Hotan oasis of Southern Xinjiang as theresearching object, the main aim, the main project, database and data flow, environment of hardware and software and system 's functions are designed about the land use dynamic monitoring system of Hotan oasis. U nderthe support of the system, the land use dynamic monitor of Hotan oasis was realized effectively. F rom the monitoring results (the dynamic monitoring table of Hotan oasis from 19505 to 1990 s and the dy namic monitoring mapof Hotan oasis from 1950 s to 1990 s), the paper briefly analyzed the changes about Hotan oasis and drew the con-clutions. T'here are some characteristics about the land use dynamic monitoring system of Hotan oasis : (l) obtaindatum about oasis effectively and accurately; (2) save and manage the historic datum about oasis; (3) manageand analyze the monitoring results, such as monitoring map, the table of changing area; (4) monitor the changesof edge of oasis; (5) output statistic tables, chart and analyzed results, and so on; (6) easily to use and manipu-late. So, the system could be taken as reference and used by those who work on researching oasis.
