Abstract: It is of profound significance for the regional land use characteristics as well as regional and global climate and environment change to research the vegetation coverage change and its response to the climatic factors in Qilian Mountains. Based on the NASA data of MODIS NDVI and climatic data from 2000 to 2012,this paper studied the spatio-temporal variation of vegetation coverage changes and its correlation with climatic factors in Qilian Mountains by using the Average Method,Trend Line Analysis Method and Correlation Analysis Method. Results show that:the vegetation coverage showed increase trend as a whole in recent 13 years, and the trend significantly increased in spring, followed by that in autumn;the vegetation coverage changes have obvious spatial differences in different seasons, and the increased area of vegetation in summer is the largest with an area of 91669 km2,accounting for 48.7% of the total area;there is an obvious spatial differences of the time lag effect between vegetation change and temperature, vegetation and precipitation in different seasons;the correlation coefficient between NDVI and temperature in spring is the highest with the correlation coefficient being 0.721;the correlation coefficients between NDVI in summer and its previous and the current cumulative precipitation are the highest, indicating that the NDVI in summer and the precipitation in spring has a certain lag correlation;the correlation between NDVI and precipitation,NDVI and temperature in autumn and winter is not obvious; In spring, the correlation between temperature and NDVI in Daban Mountain, the valley of Datong River and Huangshui River is significant; In summer, the correlation between NDVI and precipitation is the highest and significant in most of the western region;the correlation between NDVI and temperature, precipitation in autumn is relatively low;NDVI in winter has low relativity with temperature and has a significant negative correlation with precipitation.
