Abstract: The paper researches systematically the distributions and characteristics of inland saline and alkaline mires in China. There are about 270×104 hm2 inland saline and alkaline mires in China, and they mainly distribute in arid and sem-i arid inland regions, 37734 hm2 of them are alkaline mires. Furthermore, the formative conditions and various eco-environment functions of inland salified and alkalinized mire are discussed. At last, the present problems during development and utilization are investigated and probed into. Because of excess and irrational development, many regional environment problems have been resulted in, such as the deserted, saline and alkaline aggravation in region, the crisis of water resources et al. The results support scientific foundation for the sustainable utilization of inland salified and alkalinized mires in China.
