Spatio-temporal changes and coupling coordination of the function of “production-living-ecological” in Xinjiang

Abstract:

On the basis of the perspective of the production-living-ecology function, long-term economic statistics and land use data were used to construct an evaluation system for Xinjiang, China to explore the spatial and temporal evolution laws of land function in its counties and cities. A coupling coordination model is then introduced to study the degree of interaction between the land functions of counties and cities in Xinjiang and their spatiotemporal evolution. This study also identifies the key factors that affect the development of county land function and provides suggestions for regional development. The results demonstrate the following: (1) There are significant differences in the spatial and temporal patterns of the production, living, and ecological functions and the production-living-ecology function of counties and cities in Xinjiang. However, both exhibit the spatial distribution characteristic of being high in the north and low in the south. (2) The coupling coordination degree of the production-living-ecology function between counties and cities in Xinjiang also generally exhibits a spatial distribution trend of being high in the north and low in the south. The coupling coordination between counties and cities in Xinjiang is also gradually improving, laying a good foundation for the follow-up development of the region. (3) The choices made by leading industries are very important for the development of land functions in both the counties and cities in Xinjiang. At the same time, macrocontrol policies help to enhance the coupling coordination between land functions and promote their coordinated and orderly development in counties and cities.
