Abstract: Mountain leisure vacation has been considered an important position in the process of Chinese tourism industry development. Mountain is not only suitable for sightseeing，leisure，vacation and convalescence，but also has advantages to carry out some wealth of sports and entertainment projects. In this study，the suitability evaluation indicator system of mountain leisure resort has been built from the aspects of climate comfort degree，vacation tourism resources，vacation tourism environment and regional conditions using the methods of Delphi and Analytical Hierarchy Process. Ili Region，Xinjiang，China was selected as the case study area，and the main conclusions of the study as follows：（1） According to the weight index from large to small in the built evaluation system，the four sort layers are indicated as follows: climate suitability，holiday environment，holiday resource conditions and regional development. （2） The leisure tourism suitability score is 4.016 6 in Ili Region，belonging to “most suitable” level. The evaluation scores of climate suitability degree and vacation resources are 4.320 2 and 4.137 7，belonging to “most suitable” level. The evaluation score of holiday environment and regional development condition are 3.902 0 and 3.396 0，belonging to “more suitable” level. （3） The factors that affecting climate suitability are altitude，temperature，humidity and wind speed，the scores of these factors are 4.233 9，4.233 9，4.233 9 and 4.369 6，all of which belongs to “most appropriate” level. （4） The influence factors of resource conditions for holiday are the degree of entertainment value，resource types and resource beauty，their score are 4.208 9，3.755 4 and 4.208 9. From the perspective of the regional spatial distribution of tourism resources，the distribution characteristics of leisure tourism resource has a large distribution but a small concentration in Ili Region. （5） The five indicators that affecting holiday environment are quantity of land utility value，quality of air environment，quality of water environment，quality of acoustic environment and quality of ecological environment ，the scores of these factors are 3.314 3，4.316 1，4.369 6，3.980 4 and 3.867 9. Quality of air and water environment reached to “most appropriate” level，the other three indicators achieved “more appropriate” level. （6）The effecting indexes for regional development are traffic convenient conditions，social economy，infrastructure and policy environment，the scores of these indexes are 3.301 8，3.567 9，3.301 8 and 3.567 9，except the infrastructure belonging to “medium appropriate” level，other indicators belonging to “more appropriate” level. This study reveals the suitability factors of mountain leisure tourism and the corresponding weight. The research conclusions not only provide a new way and method to evaluate suitability mountain leisure tourism，but also show an important reference basis for mountain leisure tourism development.
