Abstract: The Hami Basin, situated at the east of Xinjiang, is a well known strong wind region in China and its prevailing winds in the whole year is the north and northeast wind. Near the two wind gaps at upper stream area, two strong wind regions have developed. One is west strong wind region between Hongqikan station to Liaodun station of the Lazhou-Xinjiang Railway named as "one hundred kilometers strong wind region" with fame in the whole country; the other is the southeast strong wind region between Yandun station and Hongliuhe station named as "Nanhu Gobi strong wind region". Under the control of these kinds of unique landform structure and climatic conditions, it is favorable for the forming of wind-erosion landforms. In the west of the basin, field troughs and inferior ground are formed in Shisanjianfang district, wind-erosion mushroom and wind-erosion towers are developed in Wupu district, wind-erosion depressions are formed in Sanpu district. In the south of the basin, diversified wind-erosion landforms are distributed at Nanhu Gobi and Grand Canyon of Kurukeguole River Valley, which appeared as stratified structure from north to south. It is caused by joint action of strong wind erosion and temporary rainy storm and flood scouring. Several tens of wind-erosion landform clusters with different types is distributed in the scope with 120 kilometers length from east to west, 30~50 kilometers width from north to south and an area of 2500 square kilometers, which is a peculiar wind-erosion landform region in China with diversified forms and magnificent views. The wind-erosion landforms in Hami Basin have high tourism value with abundant tourism resources, complete range of types, unique features and high quality, which are the treasure in desert tourism resources in China. Based on analyses on characteristics and location advantage of wind-erosion landforms, several suggestions are put forth on rational development of tourism resources in the basin.
