EVALUATION ON OASIS SUSTAINABLE UTILIZATION

Abstract: Sustainable development strategy is a guide of regional development, and the study about the sustainable development is progrossively deepened. However, most of the researches focus on single factor analysis and qualitative analysis, quantitative analyses are deficient. In this paper, a evaluating index System of oasis sustainable utilization is developed, which is consisted of three top-grade indices (including resources-environment factor, economic factor, and population-development factor) and fourteen secondary-grade indices. In order to strengthen the serviceability of evaluation, the harmonious degree model is used. By taking Minqin Oasis as a case study, the calculation results show that the harmonious degrees of resources-environment factor, economic factor and population-development factor are 0.5282, 0.6217 and 0.5027 respectively. The evaluation results show that the sustainable utilization of Minqin Oasis System is basically in a coordinative state at present. Some problems, however, still exist, such as ecological degeneration around the oasis, lowering of groundwater level, raise of groundwater mineralization, irrational structure of primary industry, population presure, etc. In order to make an efficient, stable and sustainable utilization of the oasis, the shelter-forest system must be built up, and it is suggested to regulate the ecological structure of agriculture, forestry and animal husbandry, redistribute water resources rationally, control population growth, etc.
