Abstract: For a long time, as a result of the limitation of dating and environment information carriers, the climatic change research in the southern region of Taklimakan Desert mainly focused on the modern stage with the meteorological apparatus measurement. Because Tamarix cone sedimentary veins in arid zones have the significance for dating and storing climatic and environmental information in recent hundreds of years, this paper took Tamarix cone profiles in Damagou township (37.09°N, 81.08°E), Andier ancient city (37.83°N, 83.71°E) and Andier meadow (37.72°N, 83.82°E) located in the southern region of Taklimakan Desert as the research objects. Since there were not perfectly clear and continuous sedimentary veins within the Tamarix cones there, the samples were collected according to the yearly sedimentary veins for the clear and continuous sedimentary layers, and according to certain thickness for the unclear and discontinuous ones. By comprehensively using some dating methods such as 210Pb, 137Cs, 14C and so on, the constructed age sequences of them turned out to be 1792-2010, 1600-2010 and 1590-2010, respectively. Based on TOC, TN and C/N analysis, this paper also studied the regional climatic and environmental change. The results show that at Damagou township the maximum value, minimum value and mean value of TOC and TN are 49.054%, 26.062%, 41.306%, and 2.423%, 0.455%, 0.930%, respectively; at Andier ancient city, they are 47.272%, 21.218%, 37.985%, and 3.767%, 0.634%, 1.848%, respectively; and at Andier meadow, they are 50.926%, 28.785%, 37.033%, and 2.198%, 0.663%, 1.477%, respectively. The change of C/N within Tamarix cone sedimentary veins are jointly affected by TN and TOC, and TN is one of the main factors. Under the influence of geographical location and human factors, there are differences in climatic and environmental change among different regions, but throughout the southern region of Taklimakan Desert, the temperature has been rising continuously with the increase of atmospheric CO2 concentration, and the precipitation has been increasing since 1990. The climate has experienced 5 stages including 1600-1690(cool-wet), 1691-1900(cool-dry), 1901-1990(warm-dry) and 1991-2010(warm-wet) in recent about 500 years.
