Abstract: Taking the vegetation community of Longnan area in Gansu Province,China in the process of natural restoration after earthquake-induced landslide as the research object,an investigation on the slope scale was conducted by adopting belt transect method, combined with the elevation gradient method as well. Based on data of field investigation, the characteristics and spatial distribution of vegetation community of five-year-later natural restoration after earthquake-induced landslide were analyzed with the principle and method of biological diversity. The results showed that compositae and gramineae are the main plants in the test zone, the vertical structure of community was obvious and could be divided into three layers; species of annual herb and hemicryptophyte are the most ones in the community, they are life type in a dominant position; in 7 sample areas, with the increasing of altitude, the change trend of Shannon Wiener diversity index (H') - and the change trend of Pielou evenness index (E) are almost the same, all of them showed unimodal trend of first increased and then decreased,Margalef abundance index (R) and Simpson dominance index (C) showed the same change trend, all of them has the partial peak trend of first decreased and then increased, peak value is partial to high altitude area.
