THE ENVIRONMENT PROBIEMS OF GOLD MINING AREAS IN ALTAI MOUNTAINS

Abstract: Mining gold in Altai Mountains has been recorded more than one thousand years before. Such a long history of human mining activity result tremendous influence to nature environment. Through investigating the every gold-mining area in Altai Mountains, many environment problems are discovered. First, the activitics of mining gold damaged forests and meadows, which caused loss of water and erosion of soil;second, panning polluted water resource of rivers. It is harmful to the health of the people lived on the lower terrain of the rivers;third, during the process of extracting gold, many kinds of poison chemical were used. If these waste chemicals are treated improperly, they may be pernicious to ecological environment. In vicw of the probloms mentioned above, a series of aproposals which are directed against those environment problems are put forward.
