Abstract: The Altai Mts., Tianshan Mts., Kunlun Mts., and the basins of Junggar and Tarim found basic outline of Xinjiang Geomorphology. Both the landform and geomorphic type are complicated because of the complicated geologic structure and climate. According to their formation, the geomorphology of Xinjiang is divided into following eight kinds: 1 lava, 2 glacial, 3 periglacial, 4 fluvial, 5 loess, 6 arid, 7 wind-drift, 8 lacustrine. Further classification gives out 212 kinds, the gcomorphic characteristics of Xinjiang are:
That the strike of mountain system be the same as direction of deep fracture.
That there are great elevation differences between the mountains and the basins.
That stepped topography of the mountains is obvious.
That desert area is very large.
That there is some difference in vertical belt of the geomorphologic action by exogenic force between the mountain.
That there are many intermontane basins.
That the geomorphologic structure of types are girdled.
