Abstract: Xinjiang with its special cultural background offers the wide study field of cultural geography．The focuses of discussion in this paper are the effects of cultural geogrphy to the development of social-economics（Inclu-ding material culture and dematerial culture）in Xinjiang and the other fields that it can effect，and the relationship between it and these fields． The conclusion：（1）the characteristics of cultural region are the focus of attention to study cultural geography in Xinjiang，（2）the culture of Xinjiang is mixed and relatively backward，（3）there are many differences within the cultural area．
