Abstract: Dulut, Zair and Tory arc names of three ancient pastoral areas on the northern part of the Tianshan Mt., which have close connection with thehistorical activities of the Kazakh nationality. The name Dulat comes from the people under the control of Dalu which belong ed to the Wusun nation­ality during the Han Dynasty and Tang Dynasty . Dulat expended itself into the Duolu tribe, which ruled over the vast area on the north side of the Tianshan Mt. Duolu is a different translation of the Dulat at present day, the tribe of the Kazakh nationality. The names of the Zair Moun­tains and Tory County are originated from the migration of the Zalair tribe, of which Tory was its major branch to three places during the time of Chcngjisihan . Now, the Zalair tribe is still one of the important tribe of the Kazakh nationality.
