Abstract:

Enhancing farmers’ livelihood resilience is essential for poverty alleviation and rural revitalization. Drawing on 604 household survey samples from 13 villages in 6 townships across 4 cities (counties) in Ningxia, this study examines how digital rural construction affects farmers’ livelihood resilience and investigates its underlying mechanisms, with particular attention to the moderating role of farmers’ education level. The results show that digital rural construction significantly improves farmers’ livelihood resilience, and the conclusion is robust across multiple checks. Mechanism analysis indicates that the positive effect operates mainly through online learning, non-agricultural employment, and green production, and moderation analysis shows that farmers’ education level significantly strengthens the relationship between digital rural construction and farmers’ livelihood resilience. Heterogeneity analysis reveals that although various components of digital rural construction positively influence farmers’ livelihood resilience, the effect of rural digital governance is not significant. These findings support policy recommendations focused on improving farmers’ digital literacy, promoting coordinated regional development in Ningxia, and avoiding excessive digitization.
